Latex is a water-based polymer widely used to enhance bitumen emulsions performances in road construction. When added to bitumen emulsion, latex improves the mechanical properties of the mixture, enhancing flexibility and durability. It improves the bitumen’s resistance to wear, cracking, and deformation under varying weather conditions and heavy traffic.

Latex-modified bitumen emulsion creates a film that has greater elasticity and adhesion, which improves the bonding between the bitumen and aggregate. This results in a more cohesive and durable surface layer, reducing the need for frequent repairs and maintenance. The enhanced elasticity helps the road withstand stresses caused by thermal expansion, contraction, and repeated loading.

Crosslinking is a process that forms a three-dimensional polymer network by chemical reaction into PmB. Hence, storage stability of modified bitumen is highly improved. When only a linear SBS was usable, it becomes possible to use a radial SBS.

Our crosslinkers are using sulphur as crosslinker agent. They are designed to control the emission of the sulphur species generated during the crosslinking, to ensure the safety of the operators, and to limit the risks during bitumen modification.
